Height: 5' 7" ; 1.70m Weight: 150lb ; 68kg Age: 23 Born: 10/17/ 1982 in Doncaster, England   A brief overview of Anna's sailing roots: A 2005 graduate from Old Dominion University, Anna is about to start her journey towards qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.  Anna graduated with a 3.73 GPA with a double major in Accounting and Decision Sciences and a minor in Music Performance.   As a child she learned to like sailing on her parents' yacht.  At the age of 9, she started to sail Optimists, but was never serious about racing.  When she was 12, her family moved to Perrysburg, Ohio.  They joined North Cape Yacht Club, LaSalle, MI. and she was signed up for the racing program in Optimists.  It was from there that she started to enjoy racing.  She spent one month in Opti's before grabbing the tiller of a CFJ (doublehanded boat).  She found a home there and successfully sailed a CFJ's for five years.  At the age of 17 Anna decided to give the Laser Radial a try at the Leiter Cup which was held in Detroit, MI.  After that event she decided that she would sail Lasers for her last year of youth sailing.  The area Anna sailed in, however, only sailed Standard Rig Lasers, not Laser Radials.  Despite her 130 lb frame, Anna sailed hard and frequently won the regattas in her area.  She advanced to the Smythe Finals (Jr. Singlehanded National Championships) for her Area (E) where she was the only girl sailing. As a High School student, Anna participated in Cross-Country, Swimming, and Track at a varsity level.  Her senior year she won the District Track Championships in the 800m and set a new High School record of 2:17.56.  After a hard decision of whether to run track or sail in college and turning down a couple of calls from college track coaches, it was sailing that won.  With that choice made, it was off to Old Dominion University to study and sail. As a student at ODU, Anna was a member of the Monarchs' Varsity Sailing Team.  In her four years at ODU, she helped bring 4 National Championships to the school.  The first one came at the end of her freshman year when the women’s team won the ICSA Women’ s National Championships.  From sophomore year to senior year, Anna won three consecutive ICSA Women’s Singlehanded Championships.  She was the A division skipper for the women’s team and B division skipper for the co-ed team her junior year and A division skipper for both teams her senior year.  She also sailed on the Team Race Team from sophomore year to senior year.  Her senior year, her team qualified for both the Women's and the Co-ed National Championships.  The team sailed very well at both events and finished 4th and 6th respectively.  Anna was awarded Women's Team All-American status her sophomore year through senior year along with Co-ed All-American Team status her senior year (an award few women receive).  She was a finalist for the Quantum Sailor of the Year given to the top female sailor in college sailing every year the award has been given.  Her junior year she was runner-up, missing out by .02 of a point, but her senior year was awarded the Quantum Sails College Sailor of the Year and was also one of three finalists for the ICSA Sportsmanship Trophy.
