Hello,

I won the regatta.  With only one 30 minute race on the last day all I had to do was finish within 5 boats of
Jen (2nd place).  The wind was blowing 15-20kts, so I knew it would be no problem as long as I got of the
line clear and sailed hard.  The race started and there were people over the line early.  I saw Jen’s bow
poked out a little farther than mine, so if I was over then she was too. She wasn’t going back to restart, so I
didn’t because it didn’t matter if we were both over the line…I would still beat her.  I hiked hard to the
windward mark and read the board with the over-earlys on it.  I wasn’t on the board, but Jen was…so I had
won overall.  I was also winning the race which I was pretty happy about.  As I rounded the mark, my main
sheet got in a knot and so I couldn’t head down straight away and lost one boat immediately.  I lost one
more on the run, but rounded in 3rd and knew that I could catch up upwind.  I did catch up, but not quite
enough, and rounded the windward mark in 3rd again.  At this point I was very happy that I had just won
and started to loose a little bit of focus.  This hurt me because I got caught off guard on the run and
capsized and lost 4 boats.  No worries though, it didn’t matter and I wasn’t concerned about it.  I had won
the regatta which was my goal and I’m very psyched for the next one coming up.

Our next regatta is the Radial N.A.’s in Ft. Lauderdale.  It starts on Thursday.  I will post a link to the event on
the results page of my website (www.sailanna.com).

Thanks for everyone’s support.

Hello

Great news!!!!  Todays racing was long and windy...which was great.  We had three races and I finished
2nd, 4th and 7th.  I am in 1st overall.  Paige had another OCS today and so I am 25 points ahead of her at
the end of today.  I have a 10 point lead on the girl in 2nd place.    Tomorrows race is the Medal Race.  This
race consists of the top 10 overall after today.  The points from tomorrows race count as double, so for me
to win overall I have to be within 5 boats of Jen (2nd).  With this said, I can't get anything worse than 2nd
overall, so things are looking good.  Our race tomorrow is at 10:10 so the results will be posted early.

I'll give a debrief after the regatta is over...

Wish me luck

Hello everyone,

I had another decent day today.  We had three races and I finished with an 8, 4, 3.  I am currently in 3rd
overall, but tied with 2nd...so its close.  We had good breeze today, but it was very very shifty.  It made for fun
sailing, but very nerve racking at times.  Tomorrows forecast is for breeze again and three races
scheduled.  I'm looking forward to tomorrows races and hopefully I will have more good news to report.

Hello,

Much better news today.  I finished with a 2, 4 and moved up to 2nd overall.  Today was much lighter breeze
which filled after sitting around for a while waiting for it.  The first race started a little rough.  I had a great
start, but had a small girl fully hiked on my hip at the start and she rolled over me, making my good start,
not so good anymore.  I rounded the first mark in 13th, but passed 9 boats on the first downwind leg and
rounded the leeward mark in 4th.  I passed one more boat upwind and then one more downwind to take
2nd the first race.  The next race was lighter still.  I had a decent start at the pin end, but with the breeze
filling a little from the right, I had to take a lot of sterns to get where i wanted to. I sailed well from there
rounded the mark in about 6ish, passing boats downwind.  I lost a couple of boats on the second upwind
leg, but got them back downwind to finish 5th on the water, but the girl who won the race was over early so I
finished 4th.

Tomorrows forcast is for more breeze...thank goodness...so hopefully tomorrow will be another good day.

Hello

Today was the first day of racing.  We did two races in about 7-14kt breeze.  The breeze was very tricky
today and I had some bad luck on my first beats.  I finished the two races with a 9th and a 4th and am in 4th
overall.  The regatta is long however with many more races to go...so hopefully there will be some better
luck my way tomorrow.  Tomorrows forecast is for lighter breeze so hopefully we will get races off.

Thats all for now, but i'll write again soon,

Thanks for all of your support

Hello everyone,

Its been a while since I last wrote.  After Brazil, I took three weeks off from sailing, and a week off from the
gym.  I started sailing again on Jan. 1 at the LYC Hangover Bowl.  It was a match racing regatta which I
ended up winning with the help of my crews (Opti sailors...Chanel, Erica, Jensen, and Mac)...thanks to all of
them.

After that the next day was back to Radial sailing.  I had three days of sailing Radials before I went to V-15
Midwinters where I crewed for Matt Allen.  We finished 3rd in the fleet race regatta and 4th in the team
racing regatta.

After V-15's it was back to training in Miami getting ready for the Rolex Miami OCR regatta.  I trained all
week with my cousin from GBR, Harriette, and Lisa (CAN).  We had great breeze..one day of about 30kts...
but the rest of the week was reasonable breeze.  I did a lot of work with the USA coach, Luther, and he
helped me a lot with both my upwind and off the wind sailing.

On Monday the OCR regatta starts.  Tomorrow is registration for the regatta and a boat work day (washing
the hull and sanding blades).  We have about 45 boats registered for the event in the Radial fleet and a lot
of good people in those registered.  I'm really looking forward to the event.  I feel ready for the week and
hopefully it will all go well.  I'll write updates during the event to keep you all informed about how its going.
You can also follow along at
Miami OCR

Wish me luck...

Sail hard,
Anna
