July 19th

Hi team,
Well its back to training again after the regatta.  The regatta went alright, I finished 4th out of 79...not too
bad.  It was tough tactically with the wind doing all sorts of crazy things, but it made it fun and hard.  I made
some mistakes that I learned from that cost me probably the 8 points that I needed to finish second, but I
learned a lot from it and that is what important.  After the regatta, I flew to Minnesota to do a clinic for a
week.  It was hot and not much wind out there, but the last two days had great breeze so I could get out in a
boat afterwards and get some practice in.  After the clinic finished on Sunday, I flew home and then flew to
Ft. Lauderdale to practice in big waves and wind with two of my training partners and Brad Funk as coach.
We have had two days of great breeze and awesome waves.  I got some great practice in and am learning
a lot about sailing upwind, downwind, and reaches.  I am sure this practice is going to get me ready for the
Europeans and the World University Games.  I will continue practicing down here in Florida until Friday and
then its back to Norfolk for a week and then off to Croatia.  Until then, I'll hike hard and learn as much as
possible,

Anna

July 7th

The ACC regatta starts tomorrow with the practice race and then real racing starts on Saturday.  There are
over 60 Radials registered.  It should be a great regatta and I'm very excited about it.  We have had two
great practice days so far and hopefully the weather stays good so we can practice tomorrow.   I'll post the
debrief of the regatta when its over.  Be sure to follow along at the link below.

July 4th

Happy July 4th to all the Americans receiving this email.
I sailed a local regatta this past weekend at Hampton YC in Hampton Va.  It was a fun little regatta.  There
was great breeze both days and great chop on Sunday so it provided awesome practice for me.  I sailed
against both full rigs and radials.  I won all seven races in the radial fleet and won 5 of the 7 races on the
water which felt good against the full rigs.
My next regatta is this coming weekend in Brant Beach, NJ.  It is the Radial ACC (Atlantic Coast Champs).  I
am leaving tomorrow to go to and train up there before the regatta with two guys from Annapolis.  It should
be a great event and I'm really looking forward to sailing it.  I'm feeling much more comfortable in the boat
now so that I can focus on my tactics rather than on how to make my boat go fast.
You can follow the event at http://www.bbyc.net/LaserACCs/index.htm
I'll sent my next update after the regatta,

Anna
